Radish is the Xtracycle's entry into the complete Longbike market. It's a two part system (custom Radish frame and Freeradical) that comes in one box, with everything you need to ride in style. The swept-back shape lets riders of many heights ride comfortably just by raising or lowering the seat.
Radish lands with a great all-around component set, with a disc brake, 8-speed derailleur, and big fat street tires - big enough to take potholes, but won't slow you down.
Radish evolved out of a desire to offer an out of the box Xtracycle experience that leaves nothing out. No need to worry about frame compatibility, no need to purchase extra accessories (Radish comes with a Longtail Kit, fenders, chainguard, LED generator pedals). All for $1199.
The frame design evolved out of classic cruiser geometry - but took into account it's inherent load carrying capabilities. A slack head angle makes for steady tracking of the front wheel - which is helpful both when moving with a heavy load, and when at a stop. A laid-back seat angle means that, for most of us humans, one size fits all. If you're between 5' and 6' tall, Radish will stretch to fit you - as you pull the seat up, you're also pulling it back. The wheelbase of Radish is set at the bare minimum resulting in a slightly shorter overall length, and a further centering of your weight between the front and rear wheels - which means great stability and weight distribution. All of this results in a comfortable, casual, do-anything and go-anywhere bike.
At this time, PeaPod is not compatible with the Radish. At this time we don't know of any commercial toddler seat that is compatible with the Radish. That's why we're developing our own kid's seat system that will be fully LT compatible (estimated launch date - Spring 2009). We're sorry for this lack of compatibility - we've tried hard to get a PeaPod to work, and it simply won't fit without altering it and thus voiding the warranty.
